Adam Smith, the modern economics founder, proposed a controversial theory in the eighties. He wrote the first study of political economy. The Wealth of Nation was published in 1776. Smith´s book directed the interdependence of freedom and order, economic processes, and free trade laws.Although his thinking did not affect economic policies during his lifetime, its influence in the next century was considerable. His name means "the invisible hand" and "laissez-faire" among economics. History has made Smith's ideas more controversial. Say " Adam Smith" to conservative businesspeople, they will smile and say “he was a good man-understood how business work!” Say "Adam Smith" to reformers, and they will mutter "He sold the average citizen down the river" .These extreme reactions indicate that Smith's controversial ideas are still alive.
